What I am *really* thankful for…
I haven’t written a blog post for a little while, and I wanted to make sure that I at least got this one out to you. I have family in town this week, and I am mostly taking the week off. I had an amazing time on Saturday; my step-brother arrived, and I got to witness the amazing way in which he and my daughter re-connected after having not seeing one another for a year. We went to a farmer’s market and craft fair and, while I socialized with other parents, they ate beignets and she climbed all over her uncle, not a single beat missed after a year.
I am so grateful for my family this week. For my daughter. And for the flexibility that comes from being my own boss so I can choose to slack on my blog, or allow my coaching business to ebb and flow to meet the needs of my personal life, my self-care, and the needs of my family.
AND I am so grateful for you – for the community of thoughtful therapists around me, thinking, engaging, being curious about how to take care of their clients and of themselves so that we can all continue to do this work for the long-term. There is so much hurt in this world, so much suffering. And as therapists we don’t need huge tragedies in order to know that; we already know. We see it every day, and every day we work to alleviate the suffering in the world. Thank you for all that you do and for the lives that you touch. Thank you for working to take care of yourself so that you can continue to do this work. And thank you for being a part of my community. Feel free to share what you’re grateful for in the comments; I always love hearing from you.
